About me
I'm a professionally-qualified counselling psychotherapist with a background in community and international human rights campaigning. My years working across a diverse range of social and cultural issues provided inspiration and hope but also reinforced the limitations of human endeavour in the world outside our control.
This insight added to the escalating mental health crisis persuaded me to retrain and acquire the knowledge and skills for professional practice. I am passionate about making sense of this life, so mysteriously thrust upon us, and will do whatever I can to help people better connect with themselves.
My training is pluralistic in nature, meaning I have a broad knowledge of psychological theory and therapeutic approaches which can be drawn upon as appropriate for the nature of the issues at play and preference of the client. Above all however is the compassion, lack of judgement and authenticity that I bring to my work.
A proportion of my practical experience has been with young people. This has generated a particular interest in the mental health challenges of neurodiversity, as well as generalised anxiety and depression in people of all ages

Counselling approach and values.
Mental health is something we all have and yet no two people perceive, feel, react, process or move forward in the same way.
The field of psychology continues to change, with new ideas, understandings and techniques always emerging. Contemporary neuroscience provides ever clearer confirmation that mind and body are indeed intimately connected and with that a range of bold and innovative interventions in the treatment of trauma and depression.
But even though the nature of living in the world has changed immensely, with its many modern hazards, moral as well as material, the imperative for personal thriving has remained the same. We are a complex product of nature and nurture with a unique blend of identity, belief, temperament and behaviour. Yet we all seek harmony and fulfilment.
Whether you call it counselling or psychotherapy, whether you seek emotional release or cognitive reset and whether you are aiming for a solution focus, or a longer, deeper examination of self and meaning, the values remain the same:
a safe and confidential space, where your welfare and your priorities are central to the process.
